I talk a lot about my love for bad television but there are a couple high quality shows out there that are worth checking out. My girlfriend Alex was the first to encourage me to watch “Rescue Me” on FX (Wednesdays, 10 pm EST) and she was right. The show stars Denis Leary as a deeply flawed fireman in a post 9-11 world and the program is creative, original and hilarious.

I’m also becoming a fan of “Mad Men” on AMC (Thursdays, 10 pm EST). The show is an acquired taste. It’s set in 1960 New York and gives a peak into the competitive world of advertising (a man’s world up to the brim with smokes, liquor and women). It’s a slower moving show but beautifully shot and has a way of drawing you in.

I finally got around to reading this part of your blog and I'm so excited you like Mad Men! It is fabulous! (and it does assuage some of my "Hills" guilt!)
