Remember when my coat was stolen recently from a children’s museum in Connecticut?
Turns out this kind of coat theft is rampant because over the weekend the same thing happened to Lexie.
This is freezing cold, naked Lexie:
Lexie was minding his own business outside a grocery store in trendy Park Slope, Brooklyn (patiently waiting for his owner) when someone stole the coat right off his furry back.
Fortunately, according to the owner, it was his $25 green wool coat and not his pricier Burberry. Lexie is a very smart dog. He must know when the coat thieves are out and about on the streets looking for victims. I am apparently less smart than a dog because I never thought twice about leaving my Juicy coat hanging in the coat closet at a public place.
Now the owner felt so bad about what happened to her poor traumatized pet that she bought him two new coats. So I have since emailed her and asked her to buy me two new Juicy coats but so far I haven’t heard anything back. Her internet service must be down.
Thankfully, both Lexie and I are safe after our harrowing experiences. And it’s nice to know I’m not alone in dealing with this kind of crime.
Once Lexie is feeling back to normal, I am going to discuss with him that “Lexie” seems more like a girl’s name than a boy’s name but I feel he’s too fragile to deal with that right now.
You are so sensitive to Lexie situation ….I didn’t know you are such a animal lover….I mean coat whore. But I want you to know your PSA worked my hubby and I lugged our coat through a museum a couple weeks ago I may or may not have come home without my coat. Thanks!! Have a wonderful weekend!!
Stealing from a dog? I mean one thing to steal a bone if you’re starving, but stealing little dog clothes off a little dog? I don’t understand how a person could love dogs enough to want to dress their for the weather and still be able to leave some other poor dog freezing.
Which leaves the possibility that it was stolen by someone who doesn’t even have a dog, and that I’m not even going to attempt analyzing.
The New Crime Fighting Team: Lexie and Kelcey!
Unbelievable. I would say the old Grandma version of “they probably needed it more than you did, honey.” but nobody needs a Juicy coat more than me. And nobody needs a doggy coat more than that dog, either.
stealing a coat off the back of a dog? that is crazy low.
I think there’s a business opportunity here: LoJack for coats. And, you’re right about the name. Even Superman never called Lex Luther “Lexie”.
Wisconsin may have bank robberies and earthquakes but thank goodness we don’t have dog coat thefts. Yet.
I’d like to see that well dressed pup-thug.
I wonder if Lexie will let me borrow his Burberry coat… Love this post. Hilarious!
this would be a great segment for COPS. is that show still on?>
Geez, when I leave my dog outside in Brooklyn I’m always scared someone will steal the whole dog. I’d say they got off easy.
Forget COPS, you should pitch this as it’s own show. After suffering the traumatic loss of his beloved coat, a brave dog turns to a life as a crime-fighter, and dedicates himself to saving others from a similar fate. You could be his human sidekick.
That is lower than low, stealing from a freakin dog. What is this world coming to?
As a Private Investigator, I’d start looking around for a midget wearing a dog coat…
Poor Lexie!
Lex Luther!! Manly man. Villian, but a manly one! Only his mom would call him Lexie.
I knew it was a good thing that I don’t put coats on the pugs! It’s not just that I am cheap and lazy…See! See!
Lexie was just on CNN! Seriously.
I think they’re lucky that nobody walked off with Lexie.
Solidarity in numbers!
And I was thinking the same thing about “Lexie.” Did a double take when I read “he.”
Glad you haven’t lost your sense of humor…;)
Happy Valentines Weekend!
They make electrified taser jackets for people… why not for pooches like Lexie?
Obviously, she hasn’t received your email. That cracked me up.
This is why I leave snotty kid tissues in all my coat pockets. To deter thieves.
I was gonna say, him? Lexie is totally a girl’s name…maybe they found out too late that she was a he? Kinda like my dad’s old cat Missy…the boy 😛
Yeah, and my daughter’s nickname for the first few months or her life was Lexie, now it’s Alexa…I like to change my mind.
