So the other night I had a dream that Sarah Palin was my OB/GYN.
Now I’m sure the former governor has many skills but I can’t imagine that obstetrics and gynecology is among them. Although now that she has been hired at Fox News Channel (my husband’s network), maybe he’ll inquire.
But this post is not about Sarah Palin. It’s about dreams. And OB/GYNs.
Yes, I’m pregnant.
17 weeks.
We found out the sex. Let us not forget the whole “I changed my baby’s name at 8 months” fiasco which I think partially happened because I convinced myself I was having a boy and didn’t give much thought to the girl’s name.
So this time we found out.
And I’m having another girl.
And a boy.
Yes, twins. Rick gets his pecker after all. Well, you know what I mean.
We told the girls the news and Summer said, “Dylan can have the boy and I’ll keep the girl” which is nice of her to divvy up the babies and save Rick and me the effort.
They have even settled on names for their siblings… Charlie and Lola. Cute names but Rick and I haven’t yet signed on.
Honestly, after two years of trying to have a third, it just doesn’t seem real. Rick would like it to seem real so I can freak out with him about our living situation and the size of our car and everything else. But I’m not freaked. Not at all.
Just in disbelief. That this could really be happening this time.
No, not freaked.
Just happy.
And so very grateful.

Oh my gosh. Your third baby came with a bonus baby. Congrats and welcome to the twin mom club. My twins are now seven and so much fun. In the beginning though, they were not so much fun.
But don’t let that scare you. 🙂

Wow, congratulations. And I admire your children’s industriousness. Divvying up the babies will presumably mean less work for you. Right? They’ll feed them, change them, go out to buy diapers etc., leaving you just to do the cuddling. Right?

Happy Day! I’m so happy for you. I love that the kids plan on splitting them up. That totally sounds like something my 4yo would say. Ha, really Charlie and Lola are pretty cute names and so much better than Max and Ruby in relation to levels of annoying.

Oh my god I’m so incredibly happy for you and your family! Ever since you posted about your troubles getting pregnant a while back, I’ve been saying prayers for you! I totally empathize, you know. It took 23 months for us to conceive Fiona. Including 12 months of fertility treatments. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone! And lucky you – twins! WOWZERS! Congratulations!!!

Congrats. We’re so happy for you. As a mother of b/g twins, my only advice would be to take them to Tropical Isle to visit with old friends, while you’re pregnant of course 🙂 And my last bit of advice is not to take any advice.

Twins are a completely different experience. There is nothing like placing two babies side by side in a crib because “they sleep better than way.” It’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen. The newborn stuff is complicated, but you eventually work out systems for everything – and you just happen to have two little helpers in your house. My 18 month old didn’t have that much interest in feeding one of the twins while I fed the other – but if he was a bit older AND a baby loving little girl to boot? I think you’re golden.
