I’ve really been off the radar screen for a few days dealing with a family situation. It’s been stressful, time consuming, heartbreaking and emotionally exhausting. But we’re finally moving (Oh God, I hope!) in the right direction. I know I’m being all mysterious and on the down low but I want to protect people’s privacy.
Thankfully, my husband has been enormously supportive during this time. And my sister flew in from Memphis to help out. I’m always happy to see that girl’s face. She can make me laugh even during the crappiest of times.
Tonight we finally had a chance to grab some dinner. Just the two of us. So as we’re walking to the restaurant, her flip flop breaks.
Here’s the thing about a broken flip flop. YOU CAN NOT WALK WITH IT ON. It’s really impossible. You have to sort of hop and hobble your way to your destination.
Now maybe a lesser gal than my sister would have insisted that we return home so she could put on shoes that actually stayed on her feet.
But no.
Sushi and wine were awaiting.
Quinn put the broken flip flop in her purse, walked all the way to the restaurant with one bare foot and enjoyed her dinner.
Those are her feet under the table.
Shoes and shirt required?
Well, she definitely had the shirt thing totally covered.
π
Glad all is on the mend.
hey there: you know I’m around if you need me. lots of love
She is a trooper! Hang in there!
Yes, happy to hear things are getting better.
And can’t you call AAA for a flat flip-flop?
she is my kind of woman!
well, I’m sorry to hear you’ve been dealing with stuff but quality sister time (and magnificent memory moments) have a way of making everything a tad bit brighter…
hugs π
Glad things are looking up.
I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but when you have a minute you should Google “flip flops bacteria”… blech!
Lots of thoughts coming your way Kelcey! So glad you have your sis there! I sure love mine π
**I am totally gonna be humming Jimmy Buffett all day now “I blew out my flip-flop” Margaritaville Baby!
Cute shoe. Glad things are getting better for you and how nice to see your sister – even if the circumstances aren’t the best…
So sorry that you are having a tough time Lelcey, but you know the saying, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger… Hang in there strong woman.
Good for her! I mean all those published reports about flip flops in NYC basically say that walking around in flip flops is no different than walking around barefoot… and maybe the sign should say Shoe and Shirt Required!
Hope your family situation keeps on this path. I had four sisters waiting when I was born, and I’ve accumulated a few more along the way. Each is invaluable. Lean on the sisters — it makes the sisterhood stronger….
Sisters are such a blessing! Best wishes to you and your family and prayers for courage and strength in adversity.
I’m so glad that things are better. I read an article about the dangers of flip flops and everything that you can get wearing them. Life threatening stuff, like staph. The article didn’t mention possibly missing dinner.
Awesome to have a sister that committed!! Hang in there.
BTW, did I mention walking around in a broken flip flop…
well, that’s an extraordinary feat.
π
Oh, now I miss my sister! Though mine is a bit fussy and probably wouldn’t have managed a barefoot dinner. Because by “fussy” I mean OCD clean freak, and by “managed” I mean she’d have to wash her hands, like, 22 times and turn the light on and off between each washing, not to mention boil her foot in a vat of Purel.
I’m sorry to hear of your family troubles. It sounds like you’re moving toward some peace – hope so! Everybody has some craziness in their family, but that doesn’t really help… So, I’ll be sending good kharma your way.
Its too bad you can’t mend a broken flip flop.
Sorry to hear about the family troubles. I’m glad to hear everything is better.
While I am a little sad about the flip flop, the sushi and wine was SO worth it.
Yeah…for sushi, I’d have done the same thing:P
Hang in there:)
I wonder if anyone noticed? I once went out to eat wearing two different shoes (long story) and I’ve always wondered if anyone caught that.
Sending you good thoughts for whatever it is that you’re facing.
Your sister’s a trooper!
Sorry things are stressful but glad they are headed in the right direction.
Thinking of you… and your sister’s poor flip flop
Thank goodness for sisters, right?
Get FitFlops! Mine made it up the tallest mountain in Acadia National Park. I totally want to be paid for an endorsement.
Hey – shirt and shoe.
Sorry about your stress – hope things get better.
that definitely took a lot of poise on your sister’s part. sorry to hear things have been stressful–hope it gets better soon. π
glad to hear things are on the way up…thinking of you!!
PS sisters are the best- don’t know how I would make it through a day without mine :-}
Thinking of you and your family! I have been a bit overwhelmed lately and am sorry I have not returned your call yet. Much love!
Glad to hear you made it to dinner with your sis. Sushi and wine is a great way to restore peace.
So sorry to hear about the drama, but glad that things are looking up!
When I read about the broken flip flop, the first thing that came to mind was “Blew out my flip-flop; stepped on a pop top. Cut my heel, had to cruise on back home….” can you name that tune? π
I guess the squirrel finally bit you on your tushy and things are getting better when you found out it didn’t have rabies. That’s my ‘take’ on the problem you’ve been dealing with…..Nice to know ‘some people’ have sisters who speak to them…
The flip flop incident is further evidence that we need to all carry duct tape in our diaper bags. xxoo
Hugs to you
oh gosh, i’m sorry to read things have been super stressful. hope all is OK. thinking of you here in TX…
Now that’s a great sister – comes to help AND doesn’t let something like a broken flip flop get in the way of a fun night. Sorry to hear things aren’t going well; hugs.
Take care and walk safely!
I hope that Quinn can get to a show store fast! Sending good thoughts, prayers and hugs to you all. XOXO
I meant shoe store. . .
Quinn – what a cool name! Does your family have some cool name gene or something? Will you name my next baby?
I would walk barefoot on glass for wine and sushi.
Seriously, I hope all is well on the private drama front. :o)
Sorry to hear you are going through
some rought times but glad to hear you have good and fun support. thinking of you.
Sorry to hear of the incident. You really can never walk with a broken flip flop
