Proving people never miss an opportunity to critique someone else’s parenting, former “American Idol” star Kelly Clarkson got folks riled up on the internet when she put her 5 month old daughter River Rose on a horse.

No, not alone silly. Justin Guarini was holding her!

Actually it was her 13-year-old step sister.

Clarkson innocently posted this…

Well, I guess not everyone thought it was stinkin’ cute because when US Weekly printed the photo, it got comments like this…

The smiley face is clearly the equivalent of the popular 80’s phrase “no offense.” Like, “Your parenting sucks. No offense!”

And another commenter said this…

Poor Kelly, who already can’t stray too far from the sidewalk, is now taking heat for trying to post a snapshot of her children.

I mean, I guess the horse could have started bucking or whatever horses do. But I’m sure it was a pretty quick photo.

Maybe Kelly needs to take a lesson from Rick and me.

You see Rick decided to put all 5 kids on the roof of our minivan. And I’m sure that would have raised a few eyebrows. But this seasoned dad brilliantly cropped out the minivan!

Now that’s how you parent Kelly!

People make me nuts….seriously did they think Kelly would put her baby (or any child in her care? on a dangerous horse?
    Pass the wine.

  • Princess Judy says:

You left out the part where the minivan was rolling down the street, driven by the neighbor’s blind grandmother who was not only not buckled in but violating the open container laws. But it is cropped, so it is all good. My gosh. Some people. No offense!

  • DeNae says:

Ugh. You should put your baby on a horse if you want to put your baby on a horse while the baby is being held by a teenager. People get their undies in a bundle about the dumbest things. It’s not like she signed her baby up for the rodeo. Or put her on top of a minivan. 🙂

Psh, my sister (9 years older than I am) got a horse when she was in high school (so I was, what…not even 10?) and as soon as they brought her home, they put me up on her behind my sister and we both got bucked off.

I was bucked off that horse at least two more times before I got out of high school. Once she took off with me on her back and I fell off, breaking my arm. Another horse tripped while cantering and flung me over her head.

    Wait…am I helping or hurting?

What!? On a mini-van?! How could you? What if they were struck by meteor while on the roof – what then? Wouldn’t you feel negligent then? 🙂

When it comes to risk, I’ve grown somewhat more accepting as i grow older. i’m constantly reminded of the poor guy in Florida who was sleeping in his own bed in his own bedroom, in his own home, when a sink hole opened up under his bedroom and swallowed the bedroom and him, in bed.

The point being that there is no way to avoid all risks – just live your life to it’s fullest only avoiding major risks. Here in Ottawa, some risk is even accepted by law – for instance the young lad’s hockey team was short one driver and I was asked to fill all seatbelt positions in our van and add two kids on the floor, for a short drive home. I called the bylaw office anonymously and inquired – this is perfectly legal. As long as all seatbelt positions are in use, it is permitted to add as many more as desired. Who knew?

It’s just more disturbing to me that my cool friend Kelcey has a minivan. Put all the kids on their own horses and see what happens…but you drive around in a MINIVAN? 🙂 jk

  • N and Em's mom says:

My 5 year old cousin was killed by a horse. I think the picture is fine. She obviously trusts her step-daughter and the stable; both are wonderful things. Accidents happen. Balancing living with risk is just that- a balance. Just another helping of Judgey Mcjudge-judge.
