I am headed to NYC this week for BlogHer 2010. It takes me about 30 minutes to get into the city or a bit longer if I go by horseback which I’m definitely considering to make more of flashy entrance. For those who don’t dedicate all their waking hours to Twitter, BlogHer is a mega cool conference for female bloggers.
I will spend two days and one night all on my own. It’s going to amazing. I told my husband that “amazing” is an extra fancy way of saying “I’ll really miss my family.”
I can’t believe I’ll actually get to sleep for an entire night. I’ve told my roommate Wendi three times that I will absolutely not breastfeed her. Texas girls can be so pushy. Of course, I will still have to pump which means fresh squeezed breast milk in the morning for my favorite fellow bloggers.
Rick is nervous about me going away for a couple days. He told me things run smoother when I’m around. But I’ve got full confidence in him. I told him just to make sure anyone smaller than him in the house is fed and clothed.
I’m not sure how I’m going to find anything presentable to wear that actually fits and I need to stop cleaning spit-up long enough to pack, but somehow I’ll get myself there.
As soon as I get to the city, my first order of businesses is to hand out celebrity maps showing where Marinka lives. Then I’ll head to the hotel. Wendi, Marinka, Aunt Becky and I are lucky enough to host a Room of our Own on giving advice in the blogosphere on Friday at 1:15 pm. We’ll probably steal most of our tips from the Mel Gibson tapes.
Then the talented Marinka is one of the BlogHer Voices of the Year which means she has the distinguished honor of reading one of her blog posts to the entire conference. I wasn’t asked to be a voice of the year so I’ll be reading my favorite post on the corner of 45th and 6th. Free wifi as long as there is a Cosi or Starbucks nearby.
On Friday evening, it’s time for The Mouthy Housewives first annual BlogHer party at lounge 48 from 7:30 – 10. I can’t stop watching Wendi’s brilliant video about the event.
On Saturday night, I’ll head back to the ‘burbs. I know by then I’ll really miss those sweet faces…
