My older girls Dylan and Summer, along with a friend, were set on being Hannah Montana for Halloween.
Until this friend went rogue and decided to be a hippie.
So Summer dumped Hannah Montana too and went with a pirate. Meanwhile, Kmart had asked me to check out their costume Kreator where you can try out different costumes and accessories and see what combinations you like. It’s very fun and I created this for Summer…
That is actually Summer’s face!
Cute and tough, right?! Which beats my own Curious George Halloween costume which was less cute and tough and more suffocatingly hot.
So Summer went with the pirate costume.
But then her sister Dylan followed that rogue friend and went hippie too.
And well, you know what happened next….
Summer is now a hippie. Of course.
Then 2 1/2 year-old Harlowe started making serious noise about wanting to be a hippie as well. But I told her we had 14 princess dresses in the playroom and she had to pick one of those. She agreed to be a “princess hippie.” Surprisingly flexible for a toddler.
Anyway, with candy bought and some of it not yet eaten, we are prepared for Halloween. Except that due to Hurricane Sandy, Halloween is sort of canceled. 90% of my town has no power, there are tons of downed wires and trees have fallen on houses, cars and just about everywhere.
Frankly, we are so grateful to be safe and to have escaped with no flooding this time around that it’s already a perfect Halloween. A Halloween surrounded by my favorite hippies.
