We’re on vacation in Rhode Island with lots of family, including our four kids, plus my 5-month-old nephew.
It’s obviously very relaxing for the adults.
We’ve only been here for two days and cocktail hour has already been moved up earlier in the afternoon.
This whole go-on-a-vacation thing is a little high impact for me. Prior to the trip, I had packing anxiety which should not be confused with the actual productive act of packing. Then I had car stress on the 3 hour drive, constantly fearful that one of the twins would lead a revolt in the backseat and everyone would melt down in hysterics.
Upon arrival, I worried that our entire family was being poisoned from toxic fumes from the freshly painted rental house. And then just general anxiety took over as I tried to feed, clothe and organize everyone and all of our stuff.
But I think I’m calming down a bit. These are my three favorite moments so far…
1. My 5-month-old nephew Matej on the beach.
2. My 68-year-old mother boogie boarding….
3. My 68-year-old dad surfing…
Or you know, pretending to…
