So not long ago, I was chatting with Wendi Aarons about health care policy. And by “chatting,” I mean email because honestly, who talks to anyone anymore. And by “health care policy” I mean the TV show “Friday Night Lights” which I’ve been obsessively watching on DVD.
And Wendi and I both agreed incredibly quickly that we would dump our husbands for Coach Taylor.
If you’ve never seen the show (and the new season is only on DirecTV right now – you have to wait until summer to see it on NBC), this is Coach Taylor….
And he’s not all eye candy, ladies. He’s a sweet husband, a loving dad and fabulous football coach. Not that I really understand anything about football but you don’t get the Dillon Panthers to “State” without knowing a few things. Am I right, Texas?
Anyway, I felt sort of guilty about my passion for Coach Taylor, so I decided to fess up to Rick.
“Honey, do you worry that I’ll leave you for Coach Taylor?” I ask.
“No,” Rick responds.
“Why not?” I ask wondering if my husband is taking me for granted.
“Mostly because he’s a fictional character.”
Oh right. Excellent point.
“Well, let’s say Coach Taylor was real (and in my heart I believe he’s real) and I run off with him, what would you do?”
And at this point in the conversation, I give my husband a lot of credit for even answering.
“I would settle down with his TV wife Tami Taylor. I really like her. She’s very pretty.”
Hmm…. I wonder what he likes so much about her.
So apparently, it would all work out perfectly.
