There are two ways to do the moonwalk. You can jet back to 1986 and glide across the dance floor Michael Jackson style in your taffeta prom dress. (A sure way to wow your date before he passes out in the back of the rented limo.)

Or you can do it this way…

MoonWalk NYC 1

At 10 p.m., on July 20th, thousands of women and men will power walk through New York City wearing brightly decorated bras to inspire others to get fit and raise money for breast cancer charities.

There is a 26.2 mile route or a half marathon route for those who think power walking 13 miles in a bra is ambitious enough.

The MoonWalk hopes to raise two million dollars in one night, most of which will be granted to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, to help support their Breast Examination Center in Harlem. This is one of the first free screening facilities for breast cancer in the country where 80% of the patients are uninsured but guaranteed support and guidance.

This walk originally started in London because they obviously do everything cool first. And this is the first time the MoonWalk has come to the U.S. So let’s show them Americans can kick some cancer ass too.

Yeah London gets all Cash ;)

    Lindsey Reply:

Actually – looks like the money stays local and goes directly to Memorial Sloan-Kettering in NYC.

When I lived in London and actually worked in an office, I had friends from my office do the London one… it was very inspiring and some of the bras were so creative and utterly hilarious. Glad to see it’s made it to NYC.
