My DVR is empty. Which led me to watch a few minutes of “Two and a Half Men” last night. PLEASE. I know. I just said the DVR is EMPTY. When I wasn’t engrossed in the clever, Emmy winning (really?), comedic banter, I was looking at Charlie Sheen. What happened to that guy (I mean, other than lots of booze, drugs, hookers and 3 wives)?

Remember when he did that 1986 bad boy cameo at the end of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off?”

Juvenile delinquents are so damn hot.

And now…

The hair? The expression? The shady past? Where are his teeth? I don’t know. Not so smokin’.

Meanwhile, some guys seriously improve with age. Remember Patrick Dempsey from 1987’s “Can’t Buy Me Love?”

Add TWENTY years and this is what you get…

Hi Patrick. I love you. Love me.

Luckily, my husband is enormously secure. Speaking of my husband Patrick, I mean Rick, we decided to take some family photos. We figured since we have no wedding album (Really, I’m getting around to it. Soon) and Summer has no baby book (completely almost done, well… almost started), what we really need is more photographs to feel guilty about not organizing.

Ron Holtz, a creative, awesome and extremely patient photographer spent a few hours with us on Sunday. He was super energetic and positive, shouting out comments like, “Great job Dylan and Summer!” as they picked their noses and leisurely inspected city grates.

So we brought in Rick to try to work some daddy magic on the girls…

Rick growled and hooted and hollered….

Until the girls finally smiled he hurt his jaw and neck.

Well, that made me laugh. He’s fully recovered but no longer applying for jobs as a photographer’s assistant.

And Rick did coax an itty bitty, sort of smile out of Summer and Dylan (clearly rockin’ Ron’s photo, not mine below).

Well, Barack Obama certainly has something to smile about. After a long arse primary campaign, he finally secured the Democratic presidential nomination. Big congratulations to Miss Thing (AKA Rick’s cousin Wendi) who loved Barack Obama before any of us had even heard of him.

And don’t they make the cutest couple?! True. Love. Forever.

Your girls are so cute. My husband took my younger son to get photos, and got some great shots. He's in charge of photos from now on.

  • Abby Siegel says:

It is 2:20 am. Can't sleep so random thoughts:

    1. Charlie Sheen is a sleazy mess.

    2. Patrick Dempsey is hot but I think he had his nose thinned but the bump is still there. But he's cute-this Jewish girl loves me a hot Irish guy. Julian McMahon? Call me!

    3. Do you watch Intervention? This show is incredible-new eps start June 16 on A and E.

    4. But my fave Kathy Griffin starts up next week! Yay!!!

    5. How am I gonna wait 8 months for LOST?????

  • Jennifer H says:

Ah, Patrick. I'll bet a few girls are kicking themselves now.

Your girls are so cute. And it looks like your husband made a good effort to get them to laugh (jaw injury!).

  • kristen says:

I didn't even know what to say when I read that your DVR was empty.

I have this great record of my daughter (incl. professional shots) up to age 4 and then….it's all in the computer. I even backed it up!

Patrick called last night and asked if I knew you? He said I could finally put it out there that we're in LOVE and he wanted me to let you down easy. (=

  • Kim says:

I laughed out loud on this post.. because I too have emptied my DVR and I too ended up watching the same show.. and I have to agree with you.. time has not been his friend..

And Patrick.. step away.. he is mine!!

And your husband is hysterical with those faces..haha

  • wa says:

Watch a few episodes of "Wheel of Fortune" after "Two & A Half Men", then maybe an "According to Jim" or two and you'll know what it's like to visit my parents.

  • Quinn says:

I have one show left on my DVR, it's really a sad state of affairs. I don't know how I'm going to make it all summer.

  • Becky says:

I loved him first! I DID! She is with MY BARACK!

I loved him in 2004 when I heard him speak at the DNC for Kerry. I stopped in my tracks and said "Who is that guy? I love him!"

    So? Do I win!?!

    Great pics of the girls.

  • Diane says:

I don't even bother with family photos anymore – with 4 kids, there is NEVER a kodak moment. Xmas photos drive me to drink 3 hrs before the shoot and then I'm the only one smiling! Thanks for the photo of Patrick D. I'm writing a book with a main character whose husband's name is Patrick (THAT Patrick) – now that's some inspiration to get me writing!

  • Milena says:

Sheen's whole face kind of slackened up in a bad way. The lifestyle has probably contributed some to its sag. Dempsey, words fail me as to how this man conjures that state of mental lassitude where my fantasies run rampant. Photo coaching, now that's a real important job. Rick looks like he really got into the swing of the role and if that produced desired results then hey, I want to see what they look like. Show photos. The girls – can cuteness be trademarked?

    A-do-ra-ble.

  • madge says:

I'm sorry. I'm not able to coherently comment at this time. I am currently paralyzed with undying love and desire for Mr. McDreamy Patrick.

    and your kids are adorable.

and we have no wedding album or baby albums either. photos in boxes is what we have.

    see how cool you are?

  • Daphne says:

Yippee Abby! Another Lostie out there? Here I've been holding back on spelling out my Sawyer love for mamabird…look out! The show rocks, the schedule, not so much.

  • Michelle says:

1st of all, photo sessions should be considered a full workout for parents. I'm usually sweating by the end!!

Second, GO WENDI!! She's a rockstar here in Palm Beach and Obama thanked her personally at at 17,000 person rally!!

  • portia says:

LOL @ rode hard and put up wet…the first time I heard that statement I blew my drink through my nose!

  • shay says:

Two and a half men?! Seriously?! Yikes you must have been desperate!

And on that note. what happened to Jon Cryer? Wasn't he in Pretty in Pink? didn't he used to be cool? SO SAD!

Oh and I love my some Patrick D! YUM!

ANd your hubby trying to get the girls to smile? Priceless lol!

  • francine Kasen says:

GOBAMA. Barry and I go back a long way….we went to camp together…..Well not actually, but I too have been crazy about him for a long time. Wendy…what a great picture! And I remember a photo session at my house where the Photographer was bribing my moody little daughter with potato chips! It was well worth the hassle, I got great shots too!

  • Pearl says:

You people and your empty DVRs, what gives? Seriously, how can you resist Farmer Wants a Wife and Deion and Pilar…. ha hahahaaa.

On a serious note, your girls are adorable!

  • Jordana says:

Okay, Kelce, NOW is the time to check out "Army Wives" new season starts soon. And Abby, LOVE me some Intervention!

  • Pam F. says:

Might I recommend "The Tudors" on Showtime. If you have on demand you can catch up on the season so far. It is seriously hot!!!

  • JoLynn says:

Your girl's are sooo beautiful and your husband's not bad either!!! You should be very proud of your family!!! You go girl!!

  • mackbeth says:

Poor Charlie! EEEEEWWWW! Same thing happened with some of the hot studs at my 20, I mean 10- year reunion. All of my babes looked fabulous though. As far as the DVR is concerned, you are not alone, my neighbor had sent her 7 year old to bed early the other night b/c he messed up momma's Tivo and her show wasn't being recorded. Some nerve! I hope he realizes how much that means to us after the house quiets down!

  • I think we may need to have a little rock/paper/scissors for Patrick. I saw his potential back in the Can't Buy Me Love Days..

You're hubby is too funny, those were priceless shots! I hate photo time, it is so stressful.

  • ErinB says:

I too have been sucked into the bacherlorette like Kerry…there is nothing else on -why am I watching? its so pathetic and so unreal… all these men who WANT to get married… and some in their 20's- come on!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!

ok I digress…what was your post about? oh yeah hottie Patrick and your cutie pie kids-and Rick is a hoot- tell him 2 asprin and some chicken will make him feel better. great shots- I feel like I was on the photo shoot with you- fab!!

  • Di says:

You may want to let Wendi know that Barack sent ME and e-mail just moments before he stepped up to the podium to give a speech last week. I really am worried about that man's time management.

  • liz says:

you simply cannot allow yourself to watch two and half man. that show jumped the shark YEARS ago.

you may, however, continue to covet the patrick. otherwise known as MY BOYFRIEND!

  • Oh, Charlie Sheen. Seriously, dude. You need to do something. Or stop doing a lot of somethings…

The pictures of your girls look so cool. They'd be great in black and white with the city backdrop. And your husband's second career looks like it will soon bring in the big bucks! Whee! (Truly adorable.)

  • melissa says:

i'm here through laskigals blog…do you mind if i hang out here? well…too bad!!

    love it!

    your kids…gorgeous!

    have a terrific weekend…i'll be stalking…er…back!

  • Vicky says:

I once wrote a whole post about how Charlie Sheen doesn't wear anything but khakis on that show and how can Arrested Development be canceled and this putrid pile of pooh be an Emmy winner. Blech!
