During an entire year of breastfeeding, I could NEVER convince Summer to take a bottle.
Not one sip.
From one bottle.
Ever.
But now, at the age of 2, she thought she’d finally give it a try.
Sorry girl but you missed the bottle window.
I don’t actually encourage my 2-year-old to drink out of bottles but the girls found them in the closet. And there is nothing like a new beverage holder to really spice up the dinner routine.
Such ornery creatures. They only want what they can’t have.
Is it time to put a lock on the closet door? 😉
She looks adorable all decked out in her party wear so fancy a bottle is just an accessory. Throw some clip on earrings and pearls she is set so Hollywood!
Hey, she’s ready when she’s ready. Just ’cause it wasn’t on your schedule. Geez. (Seriously, I would have shaved my head just to get my daughter to take a pacifier when she was a baby. She was totally not interested.)
P.S. I’m considering drinking out of bottles, too. Except they have labels that say things like wine and vodka.
well what was in this bottle? Clearly, not milk but perhaps another “clear” liquid, goes with with tonic…..
Already into the princess deal? You’ve got a loooonnng haul ahead of you on that one, if she’s anything like my granddaughters. Hope the bottle doesn’t last equally long@
I love her fancy schmancy dress! She’s a doll.
Oh and yeah, I agree with Jeanne, the princess thing seems to last FOREVER…or at least that’s what it feels like around here.
I think the princess dress adds plenty of spice to dinner! What a cutie.
That is adorable and hillarious! She is so precious. and I see no harm in the occasional nip from the bottle!
my frass never took teh bottle either and i JUST threw them out….it took me a while to discard b/c i was thinking we might go for #3 but we have decided that 2 is teh perfect number…..
Neither one of my boys would ever take a bottle, so I had to nurse forever.
And do they make that dress in grown-up sizes? Just wondering.
I love that in 99% of your pictures of the girls they are wearing Princess dresses. it’s almost too fantastic to take.
That child is gorgeous!
My baby also never took a bottle. This is something I never read about before breastfeeding! She’s almost a year old and I can’t wait to be done with nursing…
She’s such a perpetual princess! You must have quite a stash of princess gowns! My firstborn wouldn’t nurse-only wanted a bottle. She actually used to carry the bottle around by her teeth! which caused her a lot of dental problems with her baby teeth. I know! Bad parenting!! But then our second child nursed happily–no bottle–well, maybe a sippy cup…
that would be bittersweet sight indeed! are they always in princess gowns? my nieces wear their gowns constantly.
She is so cute in her princess dress. My 2 year old took a bottle maybe 5 times ever during 13 months of nursing. He was the same way with his paci. At 5 months he decided he wasn’t interested. Then about a week ago he walked into the room with a paci in his mouth and said, “Mama, I a baby!”
Don’t those kids of yours ever have any casual days??
I’ve found that it’s all in the presentation, as far as food and drink goes…
Evan refused the bottle, too. Finally, at around 6 months old, I forced him to use a sippy cup. I need peace!
Katelyn was the same way … no bottles! But she’s almost 2 … should I be worried?? 🙂
Same problem here!!!
Oh the cuteness overfloweth!
Too funny! Kinda like how my girls looked very confused when they saw babies with pacifiers too. What is that mom and why didn’t I get it?
Yup. That’s pretty much the way it goes, isn’t it?
She shows promise as a party girl! 😉
Hey, maybe she can start nursing again!
Maybe its the new fashion accessory of spring–the starbucks coffee cup for today’s preschooler.
Too cute!  I could never convince my youngest to take a bottle either! At two, he may decide to do so now too! 🙂
Looks like fun to me! 🙂
When my husband met my sister, she was in college, drinking out of a baby bottle…it was some fad on campus…
Summer is so adorable (and she has a great drinking outfit). Great post!
