“Ever since the Super Bowl, I’ve been kind of depressed that I don’t look like Beyoncé,” I say to my husband.
“I’m sure you’re not alone! There are probably a lot of women out there who wish they look like Beyoncé,” he replies.
“Seriously? That’s your response? Do you want to try again?” I ask.
“You look exactly like Beyoncé!” he says.
“I’m a pregnant, 40 something white girl. I don’t look anything like her. Try one more time. I know you can do this.”
“I think you are as gorgeous as Beyoncé.”
“Oh that’s sweet. Thanks honey.”

I would have let him have one last go, so he could admit I’m better, in his eyes, than Beyoncé! Then I would have looked for a chicken to extract some teeth from.

What’s with this everyone’s obsession with Beyonce? I remember your picture in black leather pants and you look much better. The right response should’ve been ‘Honey, you’re so pale let’s go to Caribbean to get your tan on’

I do admit that I feel a bit of Beyonce envy (even if I was disappointed that she forgot to put her pants on. And that my almost 4 year old commented on said missing pants. And that my daughter was trying to emulate her).
But seriously, that is a lot of pressure to be that hot all of the time, right?
Also, congrats on the new gig! That is awesome!!
