Rick burst into the bedroom to tell me news about my sister Quinn…
“Quinn had her baby!”
MY SISTER HAD HER FIRST BABY!! WAIT – HOW DOES RICK KNOW BEFORE I DO?
“What? Really? Already? What’s the sex?” I ask.
OH MY GOD. HOW EXCITING. A BOY! A COUSIN PLAYMATE FOR CHASE! THIS IS SO EXCITING! BUT I STILL DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW RICK KNOWS THIS FIRST.
“What’s his name?!!”
“Cash! Cash Hudson!”
MY SISTER NAMED HER SON CASH? THAT WAS OUR BOY NAME FOR SUMMER. THAT DOES NOT SOUND LIKE A NAME MY SISTER WOULD CHOOSE.
“Hold on. Who had a baby?”
“Courtney. From work.”
Ohhhhhhhhhhh. Rick’s office mate. Rick’s young, super blond, super gorgeous, super sweet, super funny office mate but that’s not important to this story.
So no, my sister hasn’t had her baby yet. But soon.
I told her she is having a boy. Definitely, most certainly, without a doubt, a boy.
Of course, I thought my daughter Dylan was a boy.
And then I thought my daughter Summer was a boy.
And then I just gave up trying to predict and found out the sex of the twins.
So I hope Quinn has a girl’s name ready.
Just in case I might be, totally, most probably, without a doubt wrong.
mama bird notes:
I really depressed some of you with my dad’s baby elephant story. I know you don’t come here to weep so hopefully I can make it up to you with an actual picture of a cute baby elephant.
