On Thursday I went to the hospital for a scheduled (and required) c-section. Rick met my OBGYN for the first time and 20 minutes later, the doctor brought our baby into the world. That’s sort of how it goes when you’re having your 5th kid.
I made sure everyone in the operating room was sober because it never hurts to check these things out. I mean, I didn’t require a breathalyzer or anything. They just had to walk a straight line. The birth was okay. A lot of nausea and pain due to air under my diaphragm.
Our beautiful son was born and we introduced him to everyone as, “We aren’t quite sure on a name but standby, we have some finalists and I’m sure we’ll narrow it down shortly.”
That was two days ago.
I have tons of girls’ names that I absolutely love but it seems selfish to raise him as a girl just so I can use one of them.
Apparently “Grey’s Anatomy” is still on the air because (SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!) a few friends texted me the name Bailey after Meredith had a baby boy on the show and named him Bailey.
But other than that pesky name detail, he is absolutely perfect. Love him madly.

My perfect job would be naming things; cars, nail polish, BABIES?? OK..here are my two cents…I agree with the Quinton (meaning 5th son) but I also like Tate, Fletcher, Atticus, Truman, Sheppard, Archer, Charlie… any of these working for you???

Have you heard of the Novogratz? They’re interior designers out of NY and they have 7 kids. Their fifth was a boy and they couldn’t think of a name for him so they named him Five. All their kids have unusual names (Bellamy, Wolfgang, Major, Tallulah, Breaker, Holleder)

Lookin’ good! I would recommend *against* Breaker like the Novogratz. To me that’s just setting the kid up for a lifetime of clumsiness. In high school we had to write a story about our future child/children so I wrote about my son, Crayola, who owned a rocking concert hall.

Congratulations! One of my all-time favorite family photos is of my 4 oldest kids gathered around the car seat of their newest sibling when we brought her home.

Congratulations! What a cutie. PS. Has anyone ever told you you look like Shakira? My 5 year old son saw the top photo with the braid while i was reading your blog and in no uncertain terms, told his friend “That’s Shakira, she sings Waka Waka”. I just looked at some photos of her, and realize, yah, he’s right! BTW he has a total crush on Shakira. So you just got the ultimate compliment from a 5 year old after just giving birth to your 5th kid 🙂

You could always just go with ‘Boy’. That’s what my #4 calls her older brother even though his name is Julian. Maybe it’s just because that’s what she hears me call him all the time when i can’t get the names straight.
