8 week-old Chase has been having some issues. He spits up constantly and just often seems physically uncomfortable. So I brought him to the pediatrician and she suggested that since he’s breastfeeding, it might help if I temporarily cut dairy and spicy foods out of my diet.
Unfortunately that leaves me with a diet comprised of baked chips, peppermint patties and Chardonnay.
But I love my boy and I will try. We’ll see if it helps.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, I had to get out of the house. I shoved myself into some tummy sucking Spanx-esque underwear, flat ironed my hair and went to dinner with some girlfriends.
On my way home, I called Rick to see how he was faring alone with four children.
“So how is everything going?” I asked.
“Are you sure? You don’t sound sure.”
“Well, by “good” I mean no one has gone to the emergency room. There is no bleeding.”
“Oh dear. The twins have been tough?”
“Yes. I mean I just wanted to have dinner. JUST dinner. But they wouldn’t stop crying. How am I supposed to hold them and make dinner?”
“I’m sorry. I’ll be home soon.”
But when I walked in the door, everyone looked just fine to me…
Next time, Rick gets a night out.
