The other morning, we were attempting to get all five kids out the door. Rick froze for a minute, not sure what to tackle next.

I said to him, “All kids are dressed and sunscreened. Those two bags don’t go with us but we need the brown bag. Dylan is right there getting a drink of water. Summer is already in the car. I’m changing the baby.ย  You take Chase and Harlowe to the bathroom and get on their shoes.”

With a refocused purpose, Rick got moving again.

Shortly after, Dylan said to me, “You know sometimes it seems like daddy doesn’t know what to do next.”

“Well, it is a lot to get this family anywhere. And Daddy and I have different skills. I’m just a little better at knowing everything we need to do before we leave the house. Daddy is better at other stuff and he takes care of those things.”

“Oh I get it,” Dylan said. “Like rhyming. He’s really good at rhyming.”

“Yes, daddy totally handles all the rhyming.”

By the way, when he isn’t rhyming, he’s doing the news. Here’s Rick’s most recent promo. After you watch it, you will think two things:

1. Damn you Rick and your super photogenic abilities.

2. Finally, Kelcey gets a little recognition for something other than breastfeeding at the grocery store.

Nice promo! This may not be the appropriate place to make this comment, but I’m really happy to know Rick is working for CBS, instead of Faux.

I was just vacationing in Miami, switched channels and saw him doing the news. He did a great job – very charismatic.

Ummm….I kept waiting to see a demo of his awesome rhyming skills. Oh well, I guess his awesomeness in front of the camera will have to suffice. Your family picture is beautiful!

We miss seeing your sweet Rick and his most fabulous teeth on Fox…spelled Fox news (thats for you nancy walton). Those of us who fell in love with Rick, because of Fox, know a wonderful man, who sweetly announced the birth of each of his beautiful children. He gave us the news in an honest and unbiased way every time he was in front of the lights. Clearly he is a man that loves his family and his country. He represented Fox with honor and I am sure he will do the same… even if it is only CBS. Send our love to him from the heartland of America!

SO nice of you not to throw your hubbie under the bus – I would have just said something along the lines of ” daddy just doesn’t get it sweetie…in fact daddy is my oldest child…mommy is much better at this stuff…in fact mommy is much better at everything” ๐Ÿ™‚

PS You are such a good looking family!

When Rick says in the promo “I think of my family probably being a lot like yours” – I was taking a drink and laughed so hard I squirted liquid out my nose at that one!!! 5 kids is nothing like my family…. but my husband is probably just as lost in the routine with just 2 if that makes him feel any better ๐Ÿ™‚

Those are the whitest teeth I’ve ever seen! Maybe he could do a guest post about his dental hygiene routine.

Oh and the family picture in the piece is precious. Your family is beautiful!
