When I’m not grocery shopping, I’m looking for a part-time mother’s helper for a couple afternoons a week. Part-time help constantly turns over so I’ve gotten used to the process of looking for someone new.

We interviewed our first candidate this week and we asked the normal questions…

What kind of babysitting have you done?

What do you like about spending time with kids?

Are you reliable?

Would you be willing to fold kids’ laundry and help clean up after dinner?

How would you describe your personality?

Do you think People Magazine should have really named Gwyneth Paltrow the  “Most Beautiful Woman in the World?”

This candidate was very sweet and said all the right things and then we said goodbye.

At which point, I realized I never once asked about infant experience. Nothing.

Isn’t that the kind of thing that should stick in my head?

I mean, at least above Gwyneth Paltrow.

You are going to be fine! Any helpers will be helping your older kids anyway because you will be holding the baby constantly for the first few weeks (months?)! Wishing you and your family all the best!

Where do you live would be m first question, I need sunshine, a lake, a river or a beach. I need to bring my pit bull (we both come with stellar references), her mental stability outshines mine. I love playing with kids, teaching them important things like how Not to go in the road but feel free to ask grandpa Why he has so much nose hair.

I can wash or load dishes, change diapers, rock Em to sleep if it takes hours, cook fun interesting disguised foods, play in the pool, hold hide and seek marathons, or hang out on a soccer field for days ( Don’t know a thing about soccer but find that if I cheer enough I can usually garner a kiss and hug from my player (they’ve always been nephews).

I have no children of my own, did I mention the pit bull, but I revere and admire that these young ones often carry more knowledge but I have more experience. Best of Luck! Be sure to check with me Especially if you live someplace tropical!

I saw Gwenyth on Leno last night and she was pretty lovely. She definitely won some brownie points with me. I could see how she’s on your mind. =)

Nothing comes before Gwyn. I went to high school with her. Every disaster I’ve had since then, she’s been there. First time I saw her on a magazine cover was when I had to walk to a 7-11 because my car died going over a train track and I didn’t know how to get it started. The day her most beautiful cover hit the stands – HUGE pimple on my nose. I’m 41, why do I even still get pimples? Because that is the effect Gwyn has on the world.
