Kids are so damn messy.  I use rolls and rolls of tree-killing paper towels in my effort to keep my children and my apartment clean. So I was quite intrigued to read about the Skoy Cloth on myEarth360.

The Skoy Cloth is a 100% biodegradable, non-toxic, reusable cloth that can often take the place of paper towels. In fact, ONE of these clothes apparently saves 15 rolls of paper towels.

I’ve been using one for the past week and I love it.  It’s machine washable, dishwasher safe and can even be disinfected in the microwave.  Plus, it dries really quickly. Ideal for wiping off counters and chairs and anywhere else you find sticky kid fingerprints.

4 pack for $7.59. Order here. Put in the coupon code “mamabird” and you’ll receive 15% off. Only for first time customers and good until November 30th. You’ll save money and show some kindness to our earth.

How does this differ from, say, a regular dish rag/towel that can also be reused or rewashed?

I try to use dish towels to clean messes on floors and counters… though sometime a papertowel is handiest.

The difference between a regular rag and Skoy are that skoy is very very absorbant and completely compostable when it is done. If you spilt some coffee on the counter you could soak it right up with a skoy cloth they are really awesome and look cool too.

We got rid of paper a while back, but these look pretty cool. Maybe a good holiday gift (you know, if you’re in to pushing your agenda on friends and family…which I am!)

  • Aunt Marcia (Guess Whose?) says:

I might order them. Killing some Skoys doesn’t sound as mean as killing some trees. I hope we don’t find out the Skoys are made from the skins of baby seals that were clubbed to death.

Very cool idea! I hate using paper towels, but I’m addicted to them all the same. These will totally get me off the paper, man! Ordering now…
