need ideas for a swaddle blanket for a 6 month-old
My 6 month-old will not sleep without being swaddled (he freakin’ loves it). But he’s now outgrown the large Kiddapotomous velcro swaddle bags. Any ideas for products for larger or older babies who still need to be swaddled? Thanks. – Caren

So, we used the Miracle Blanket and LOVED it!!! Tyler is long for her age, so we had my aunt take the blanket apart and sew an “extension” in it when Tyler was about 5 months.. Let me know if you’d like me to send pictures, so you have an idea of what she did.

I like jersey knit blankets — they’re stretchy, so they can wrap tight and thin so they can go over thick jammies in winter, and aren’t too hot for summer. You can get a couple yards at the fabric store and experiment — knits don’t unravel like a woven fabric, so you don’t even have to sew them up, though that’s nice too.

Back in the old days we didn’t have the fancy velcro swaddlers. We would take two of the baby blankets and overlap them, then swaddle ‘em up nice and tight.
